A valuable lesson on obedience.

I thank God we are still alive today. We could have encountered a fire while we were sleeping if my daughter did not obey my command not to charge the flashlight.

She just got a new flashlight from storage and was about to charge it before we sleep. I told her to charge it tomorrow when we are awake. Lo and behold, while I was on the computer that afternoon, I heard crackling electric sounds that came from the flashlight. I immediately pulled it out and it smelled toasted.

It is important to teach our kids to obey because we never know what will happen if they don’t heed the commands of their parents – it is for their safety and their good.

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
